Stromatolites, also known as Sourrite, are algae fossils, which represent one of the oldest life forms on earth at 3.5 billion years. They are named from the Greek word "stroma" meaning "bed." They are layered accretionary structures formed in shallow water by the trapping binding and cementation of sedimentary grains by biofilms of microorganisms especially cyanobacteria (commonly known as blue-green algae).
Stromatolites are associated with the root chakra, heart chakra, and the solar plexus. Stromatolite is a stone of transformation, transition, and personal growth. Because they are natural stones, the shape, size, markings, and weight will vary but I will choose the best specimen available for you at the time of your order.
