Fire Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a micro-crystalline form of Quartz, that is found in certain areas of central and northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. Its iridescent colors (the "fire" that is found in the fire agate) are caused by light interference on thin layers of iron oxide or limonite crystals within the Chalcedony.
Fire Agate correlates with the root chakra. It is used for its protective energy, providing a psychic as well as a physical shield. It is also said to restore vitality, build self-confidence, up one's sexual energy and passion, bring courage, and helps with procreation and fertility. At the same time, Fire Agate is a grounding stone, bringing stability and security. This stone is also known to aid in spiritual awakening, helping one to rise like a phoenix out of the (metaphoric) ashes.
You will have your choice between an XL large Fire Agate which measures between 1 1/2 and 2 inches, a large Fire Agate which is between 1 and 1 1/4 inches; a medium Fire Agate which is between 3/4-1 inches; and 1 small Fire Agates which measure 1/2-3/4 inches. Most of these are thin. Each stone varies in size, shape, and color. I will choose the best available specimen for you in the size that you indicate.
