Jet is a natural, organic, fossilized wood that has turned to stone over time and with extreme pressure. It is a type of lignite, which is a precursor to coal, and is considered a gemstone. It is a very lightweight stone and has a beautiful, gentle energy for a stone with such a rich black color.
Jet is connected to the root chakra and is known for relieving grief and fear and helps with grounding, purification, and protection. Some say that Jet can be used to cleanse other crystals by placing them in a bowl with several smaller pieces of Jet. Empaths and those with allergies and sensitivities should carry a piece of Jet with them while exposed to environmental toxins and toxic people/negative vibes. Those suffering from nervousness or anxiety, and hyperactive children may find a calming benefit from Jet.
